What I Do
I love my role as the Registered Manager for Chessel Support Services. My role is to manage all of our Supported Living Services across Southampton and Waterlooville. This entails completing assessments on individuals who may potentially come to live within our services, ensuring that we are able to fully meet their needs. One of the most important factors in our assessments is that it is person centred to that individual.
Experience
Up until 2009 I always worked in Finance, but was unfortunately made redundant. I did not want to work in an office anymore and wanted something different, so I looked into the care industry and that is when everything changed for me. I started off with no experience as a Support Worker in a home with challenging behaviour and learning disabilities and absolutely loved it. Whilst there I completed My NVQ3 in Health and Social care and became a Team Leader.
My Manager at that time left to go to another Care Home and asked if I would like a Team Leader role there. That is when I joined Chessel Avenue in 2012 as a Team Leader. At that time there was only 1 Residential Care Home and I was promoted to Deputy Manager. Whilst in this role I completed my NVQ5 and was promoted to the Registered Manager. Chessel Avenue then opened Supported Living Services and required a Registered Manager, I felt I was ready for a new challenge and applied for the role which I was successful in and have been in this role since 2016.
About Me
I was born in Southampton and still live there with my husband, whom I have been with since 1989. We had our first daughter in 1994 and our second daughter arrived in 1997, and they both still live in the family home. We also have two cavalier King Charles spaniels who are amazing. In 2016 along came our first granddaughter who also lives with us and brings so much joy to our lives. When I am not working I love going on walks with my husband and dogs and having lots of play time with my grandaughter.
